At Calvary Church, our values have been shaped by our understanding of God’s Word and the mission to which we have been called. These are some of the values which guide and shape our life together:

Calvary Church is GOSPEL CENTERED:

The gospel is good news! It is the good news of God’s grace and mercy which brings forgiveness and new life. The gospel is the power of God for salvation — and the means of our growth in the image of Jesus Christ. The gospel of Jesus Christ is the center of our life at Calvary Church. We understand salvation as a gift of God’s grace received by faith in Jesus alone, and proclaim that allegiance to Christ calls us to a life of obedience and holiness under the authority of the Word of God.

Calvary Church is KINGDOM FOCUSED:

Jesus summed up his ministry at the beginning of Mark’s gospel — “The time is fulfilled, the kingdom of God is at hand…” God’s kingdom was the focus of Jesus’ ministry and is our focus as well. Calvary Church is about more than erecting a building, expanding programs or enlarging a congregation. We are called by God to expand the boundaries of His kingdom by living out the whole of the Great Commission — including evangelism, spiritual formation, compassion, and redemptive justice — in our community and around the world.

Calvary Church is DISCIPLESHIP DRIVEN:

Jesus invested his ministry in making disciples. He called his followers to do likewise. Jesus’ commission was not to build an organization, but to evangelize, teach and nurture people to become disciples of Jesus in every area of life. This commitment to make disciples “drives” the ministry of Calvary Church.

Calvary Church is SPIRIT EMPOWERED:

Jesus promised his disciples “power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses…” This promise and purpose is operative today. God’s work can only be sustained by God’s power. God has given the gift of the Holy Spirit to empower and equip the church to bear witness to Jesus and advance the His kingdom. Calvary Church seeks to cultivate the empowering work of the Holy Spirit within the parameters and purposes revealed in God’s Word.
