Mission of the Month: July 2025!

About Enfield Food Shelf

During the month of July, Calvary Church will be promoting the Enfield Food Shelf and the work they do to help food assistance and raise awareness! Calvary has a strong history of collaborating with the Food Shelf, including our own youth group helping sort food in the past!

“Every Wednesday and Thursday, all year long, we open our doors to welcome Enfield residents in need of food assistance. We take great pride in being a ‘Choice Pantry’ which means that we offer a grocery-style experience allowing shoppers to select foods based on family preferences and dietary restrictions. Our shoppers choose from typical pantry items such as canned goods and boxed items, as well as fresh produce, a variety of meats, and an assortment of dairy products.

The needs of people visiting our pantry are often bigger than just food, so we distribute laundry detergent, personal care items, cleaning supplies, pet foods, housewares, and clothing for men, women and children on a rotating schedule as donations are available.

In addition to our weekly pantry hours, we strive to support people in a variety of situations. We offer home deliveries when people are unable to shop in person, we offer pre-packed bags for displaced people in emergencies, and we support other community services by supplying them with items for their own pantries.

In 2025, we began creating Nourish Network shows that air monthly on the Cox Public Access network. Check out the latest episode here” – uoted from official site

Their Story

“In 1968, five local women from the same church recognized the growing need for emergency food to support families in need. The women held food drives and used their own resources to purchase food. Without a dedicated space to keep the food, they stored items on shelves in their own homes. This practice became the source for the name of the future organization: Enfield Food Shelf.

Since that time, Enfield Food Shelf has continuously supported the needs of food insecure families. What started as an initiative to help a few families has grown into a program that now offers nine programs to support people in need in a variety of ways.” – quoted from official site
